1. Talk before you fish
How to Fish progression is quest-gated. The Lighthouse cabin, equipment board, Lighthouse Keeper and Melvin all matter. If the next island never appears, you skipped a conversation or a trophy hand-in, not a secret fishing spot.
2. Kill, sell, buy a gun
The Steam store loop is fish, kill, sell, buy better gear and weapons. Community first-hour order is gun, then engine, then rod. Airborne kills and stacked multipliers beat a prettier rod with a knife.
3. Spawn Spider Crab the intended way
- Buy a Beer Can and give it to the Lighthouse Keeper.
- Equip the Empty Beer Can he returns. A full can is not the same bait.
- Sidestep the charge, keep the white escape bar from emptying.
- Hand the meat to the Keeper for boat keys (Who stole my beer).
4. How to make money without the casino
Throw creatures into the air and shoot them. Headshots, no-scopes and bounce casts stack. Do not gamble the coins needed for the engine or the next island bait. Patch 1.0.5 closed free island travel, so you cannot skip the quest chain.
5. Co-op: split jobs
Steam still lists 1–4 players; Patch 1.0.4 added lobbies up to 8. One player watches seagulls, one tracks trophies, one farms money, one talks to NPCs. Agree who carries the boss drop before the lure goes down.
