How to Fish fish not biting on Island 2

Two different problems get mixed together. Leeches are ground pickups — the rod will never complete 0/3. Actual fishing on Forest needs the Island 2 rod plus the Beginner / French Fry lure tier, and community reports say you must hold left click after the line is in the water.

Forest fishing is hold, not tap.

If the counter says 0/3 leeches, put the rod away. If you already have Modified Leech and nothing bites, community notes say hold left click on Forest casts.

0/3 is a ground pickup.
Hold the cast on Forest.
Wrong bait is a quest, not a spawn table.

Split the problem

Quest counter 0/3: walk the grass. Leech guide.
Rod in water, nothing bites: hold left click, check lure tier, wait.
Wrong bait: Forest normals want French Fry / Beginner Lure, not Lighthouse Ham.
Boss missing: Giant Piranha needs Modified Leech, not Beginner Boss Lure.

Hold click after the new rod hits water

Players who sold the Crab Fishing Rod and bought the next rod report a dead line until they keep left click held once the lure is in. Separate reel input from the cast. If you are in co-op, confirm you are not fighting someone else’s lure UI.

Match the island bait

Community fish tables: Forest uses French Fry or Beginner Lure for the normal pool. A Lighthouse Hot Dog on Forest can look like “nothing bites”. Story bosses ignore the shop lure until the quest bait is equipped.

Still nothing

Recast closer to open water, wait through the bite window, then change lure — do not restart the save. If the line works on Lighthouse but not Forest, it is almost always input or bait, not a deleted spawn table.
