1. Protect the next unlock first
Before selling anything, decide what the next checkpoint costs: bag space, a boat repair, a better weapon or a boss lure. Keep that amount in reserve. Everything above the reserve can fund experiments; everything below it is progression money.
2. Bomb fishing is a bonus, not a reset button
Community money guides describe dropping explosives into dense water, then picking up the stunned fish and nearby drops. Stand outside the blast radius, throw from the bank and let the physics settle before collecting. A bomb that hits the player erases the profit with a respawn walk.
3. Cook for value, stop before the burn
Put catches on the grill and pull them when they reach the high-value cooked state. Community control notes report a 1.5x cooking multiplier before burning, so use a timer and assign one player to the grill in co-op. Burnt fish are a poor replacement for a fresh healing stack.
4. Turn boss drops into the correct currency
Bosses can leave trophy parts that are quest or progression items rather than ordinary meat. Keep fins, tails and special bait catches in a dedicated inventory slot until the island NPC confirms the hand-in. Selling a unique drop can force a long repeat of the boss route.
5. The four-player delivery pattern
- Fisher keeps the shoreline clear and fills the bag.
- Runner carries duplicates to the merchant.
- Cook turns safe catches into healing and value.
- Scout marks the next lure, quest item and escape route.
Rotate the runner after each sale so one player is not stranded with an empty inventory while the others fight. This is especially useful on Island 2, where food doubles as a boss resource.
6. When to gamble
Roulette and slot machines are entertainment after the route is funded. Do a roll only with money above the next upgrade and boat threshold. The millionaire achievement is a long-term target; it is not a reason to delay the first bag upgrade.
