REPORTED
Sunfish
Second island · beginner boss bait
The fish list is still changing with the live build. Every entry below is labelled by confidence so a useful player report never gets mistaken for an official spawn table.
Press F to inspect a fish before feeding it to an NPC or selling it. The community has reported that endangered variants can matter for island quests, so do not rush to throw an unknown catch into the water.
Player reports currently mention Sunfish and Old Pike in the second-island beginner boss bait pool. Needlefish has been reported as an endangered fish used for a third-island quest. A “Horse” fish is also mentioned in community discussions; it may be a deliberately strange creature, so we keep it as a lead rather than a confirmed database row.
The Steam store confirms that How to Fish includes fish collection, rare variants, trick shots and boss fights across new islands. It does not publish a complete fish-location table, which is why this page separates official facts from community observations.
A reported fish has a repeated player sighting but no developer spawn table. Keep one copy until your own info panel confirms the island and lure.
Endangered variants can be tied to an NPC request. Inspect before cooking, selling or throwing the catch so the status and objective text are preserved.
Sunfish, Old Pike and other bait claims are provisional. Store one in a spare slot, then compare the atlas row and the current quest dialogue before farming more.
